Hot air ballooning is the most affordable way to get into aviation. You can obtain your commercial balloon rating at in as little as 35 hours. People love hot air balloons. No matter what you do for a living, you become the balloon guy in your world. People seek you out to ask questions. You give them some info and the going price. The next thing you know you are out flying on a Saturday morning. By ten  you are back home cutting the grass with money in the bank account. Ballooning is an early morning or late afternoon sport. It will not take up your whole day.

Around the country there are balloon events. We run some here in Phoenix. Typically when you go to a balloon event you recive free hotel rooms, free propane and even some free meals. Some events even sell passengers for you. Its a get away for the family and you can make money too.

Hot Air Ballooning is one of the most economical ways to enjoy aviation. Hot air balloon ratings are the easiest pilots license to obtain. Its similar to getting your drivers license. You have to take a practical knowledge written test. That is the challenging part. There are some great online ground schools. Its as easy as watching TV! The flying part is where the fun begins. Learning to fly a hot air balloon is like learning to ride a bicycle. At first you are a bit wobbly then all of the sudden it just clicks. Typically that is in about ten to fifteen hours of flight time. In that time you will have at least one solo flight.
